Athletic, rangy defensive midfield player signed on loan from Villa as cover for Guy Moussi - Billy Davies' first signing. Ironically, he arrived just as The Mousse made his first appearance for 5 months, folowing a broken ankle, but Forest were able to use Osbourne to allow them not to rush Moussi back too quickly. He did well, but Martin O'Neill wasn't keen to let him move on, so he returned to Villa as soon as the season finished.
